Forgot your Windows XP password?

26 07 2007

So you forgot your Windows XP password. How are you doing to log on your machine now? If you’re using XP Home Edition, you’re in luck. There’s a good possibility that you don’t have a password set to your Administrative profile account.

To access the Administrator profile:
1. Reboot your computer
2. Hit the F8 key when you’re in DOS mode
3. Key in the number associated with SAFE MODE ONLY
4. Click on Administrator
5. Click on Start > Control Panel > User Accounts
6. … and change your old password!

If you’re using Windows XP Professional Edition, the only hope lies with WinPE and other Windows shell bypassing applications. Running XP Pro and not knowing how to crack your own password means you don’t deserve to run XP Professional.
