Window Specific Screenshots on Windows!

5 08 2007

Title sound confusing? Alright lemme rephrase it. Sometimes when you need to take a screenshot of what’s on your screen, you hit the PRNT SCRN (or Print Screen) key on your keyboard, open up Paint Brush and click on EDIT > PASTE and then save it.

If you look at the post below this one, you can see the screenshot below neatly cropped on all 4 sides. How did I do that? Did I take a screenshot and manually crop out the edges on a picture editor? Nope. It’s a lot simpler than that.

The key to being able to take exact screenshots is to:
1. Click on the open pop-up window.
2. Hold the ALT key while pressing the PRNT SCRN key on your keyboard.
3. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint
4. Click on Edit > Paste
5. Save it!!!

This was actually a pointless post but I thought I could help out a few folks who were not aware of this technique.
